Be Not Afraid

Session 6.16 for April 20, 2014

The story of the resurrection of Jesus reminds us, that in this world, God is about the work of grace, love, mercy, hope, justice and new life. When we stop and pay attention we can see the ways that these things are happening in our lives and in the lives around us. As you begin your celebrations this Easter season, may the resurrection of Jesus assure you that the worst things in this world are never the last things, and may you be a part of making that realization a reality in the lives of others.

Stop Dying!

Session 6.15 for April 13, 2014

Psalm 118 seems to be written my a king or military leader who finds himself in a seemingly impossible battle situation. When God aids him in victory, he lifts his voice and claims that he will not die, but live to proclaim God's work. In what ways is God working in your life and are you awake and alive enough to enjoy it?

Hope in the Darkness

Session 6.14 for April 6, 2014

Have you ever had the experience of being kept awake at night worrying about something — particularly something that you have done? Have you ever been awake at night and could not wait for the first light to appear through your window? If so, our text for today, Psalm 130 is for you. In this psalm, the author confesses a time in which his own sin has kept him awake through the night, while at the same time that he finds assurance in the steadfast love of God.

Can't Get No Satisfaction

Session 6.13 for March 30, 2014

Gimme, gimme, gimme! We live in a culture that is driven by marketing and media trying to convince us of all the things we need that we don't have. Yet, Psalm 23, one of the most well know text in all of scripture, assures us that God is our shepherd and we shall not want for anything. This key is learning how to distinguish between what we want and what we need. And when we do, learning to be satisfied with what we have been given.
