Restore Us, O God

Session 3.48 for November 27, 2011

This psalm is referred to as a communal lament in which the entire worshipping community calls upon God for help and rescue. Has there ever been a time when you cried out to God for help or to rescue you from a situation? Ponder back on those difficult times in your life as you study today's text.

True Worship

Session 3.47 for November 20, 2011

Our scripture for today is a brief, but significant psalm of praise that reminds us who God is and what our response to God ought to be. This psalm was likely sung by the ancient Israelites during the Festival of Booths, which was a time of thanksgiving, held at the autumn harvest. This was also a time when they gave thanks for God’s protection during their years of wandering in the desert.

Telling the Whole Story

Session 3.45 for November 6, 2011

Psalms are like songs or poems. This Psalm particularly focuses of the retelling of this community’s faith journey, the good and bad parts. Why is it important to pass on the stories of our faith and our faith journeys? Why is it important to tell the good and the bad, about our good choices and our bad choices?
