Session 5.25 for June 23, 2013
In 1 Kings 18, God works through Elijah to establish a miraculous defeat over the prophets of Baal that ends a long famine for the people of the land. Yet, in 1 Kings 19:1-5, we see it is Elijah who seems defeated – he feels alone, exhausted, and asks for God to just let him die. Many of us could probably identify with Elijah’s feelings – hopeless, depressed, at your wits end. In the midst of these wilderness times, God shows up in the silence and asks, “What are you doing here?”
