Session 4.36 for September 2, 2012
Song of Songs 2:8-15 gives us a glimpse into the hearts of two people who are falling in love with each other. We see joy blossoming, hear sweet words whispered, and imagine the rush that these two people must feel as they are around each other. This experience is a holy and beautiful time of two people coming together to learn to love each other in a way that is pure, holy, and God-given. Too often in today’s media love is twisted to mean sex, good looks, or material possessions. In fact, we have so many bad examples of “love” in our culture, that many of us don’t know to imagine these verses from Song of Songs. Our lesson today reminds us that love is a gift. The bonds that we have between God and each other are sacred. These bonds can also be joyful and beautiful.
