A Call for Unity

Session 3.38 for September 18, 2011

Paul writes to the church in Philippi from prison, but he is also in a prison of his own. In this prison, Paul ponders two choices in a very difficult, stressful, potentially life threatening situation. He has reached a point in his life where both choices are good. To die or to live are both fruitful and fulfilling. Because of this perspective, Paul is free to act, speak... regardless of the consequences. And he wants the Philippian church to live in the same way. What about us?

All We Need is Love

Session 3.36 for September 4, 2011

Paul tells the Romans that while the law may be important, the law is not all there is to following Jesus. Paul, relying on Jesus’ teaching, says that all of the various written laws are summed up in the statement, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He explains that love fulfills the whole law because love will never do harm to another.

Following Jesus

Session 3.35 for August 28, 2011

Peter is learning what it means to become a true disciple to Jesus. Most of us would find it difficult to blindly follow someone, even Jesus. Likewise, Peter is having trouble grasping God’s plan for Jesus and struggles with his own feelings and emotions. Jesus reminds Peter that being a disciple is no easy task and much sacrifice is involved. What does it mean to truly be a disciple of Christ — to follow Christ where ever he may lead you?
